Laura is a criminologist, theorist and credited media analyst. She has done numerous academic, opinion papers on topics ranging from online predation, geographic mapping of missing persons and criminal events and citizen crowd sourcing. Laura’s academic and crisis response work has been featured on “Read, Write, Web” and CNN.

In the summer of 2010 she published the world’s first empirical report on the UK, US and Canadian police use of the social media platform Twitter. Laura’s interests are centered around partnerships and the building of community resilience via technological innovation.

She is now the principal researcher and co-creator of the police endorsed Canadian Association of Police on Social Media.
